Dennis Roger Mitchell, 68, of Columbus, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1947 in Columbus to the late Roger and Margaret (Sullivan) Mitchell. Dennis was a 1965 graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School, a Vietnam Veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He was a sales representative for heavy equipment and he loved his job. He enjoyed reading and fishing at his cabin in Canada. He had a big time sense of humor and loved Jeff Dunham’s Walter. He is preceded in death by sister Barbara Wears and nephew Michael Wellman. Dennis is survived by Marya, his loving wife of 32 years, children Lori (Kerry) Burton and Dana Mitchell, grandchildren Bobby Mango, Amanda Mango, Bryan Lee, Daniel Mitchell and Caitlin Mitchell, 3 great grandchildren Haylee Mango, Emma Smith and Claudia Lee, siblings Karen (Fred) Mahle, Patty (Kirk) Smith, Kathy (Steve) Wellman, Kevin (Robin) Mitchell and Maureen (Don) Howe, brother-in-law Gerald Wears, numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. A memorial mass will be held at 10 AM Thursday, January 7, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or Hospice of Central Ohio.
