MaryJo (Erion) Shoemaker ‘66

Mary Jo “Sis” Shoemaker, 75, of Delaware passed away peacefully early Monday morning, February 12, 2024 at Grady Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 29, 1948 in Columbus to the late John Hardin Erion and Mary Ann (Flynn) Erion and later graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus.

A devout Chirstian, she loved God and was always speaking and spreading His word. As a true daughter of God, she was always hospitable, and her home was always open to the household of God. She was ready to serve and comfort you with prayer whenever the need was there. For many years, Mary Jo led Bible studies and classes in her home.

A meek, humble, content and positive woman, she also was very patriotic, had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. A loving mother, grandmother and friend to all, she enjoyed playing softball, volleyball and watching sports, especially football rooting on her beloved Buckeyes and Browns.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Pyle of Jacksonville, Florida and Joseph (Jennifer) Pyle of Delaware; grandchildren, Joe Jr., Eva, Tim, Hannah, Hailey, Jacob, Sarah (Garrett) Wert, and Joshua (Jordan) Riley; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Ryan and Kristoff; brother, Joseph (Vicki) Erion of Columbus; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was also preceded in death by her brother John Erion.
