Sharon (O'Connor) Blackford ‘66

Sharon has been a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio. When she was a child, she attended St. James the Less and then graduated from St. Francis DeSales in 1966. Immediately after graduation, she started working for Ohio Bell as an Operator and retired from there in 1994.

Sharon is survived by her once husband William Blackford; her children, son Jamie Blackford and Bridget Staggs and daughter Carrie Bach and husband Brandon; sister Vicki (Mike) Moore and brother Christopher (Tricia) O’Connor; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved and touched deeply. She is proceeded in death by her parents Ralph and Jean O’Connor, her younger sister Kathy and brother-in-law Charles Tulloss.

Sharon loved her children, her family, her friends, nature, animals, jewelry, and beautiful flowers. She was an avid reader and could read multiple books all at the same time. She rented so many books, that the New Albany library opened a drive though for her since it was hard for her to get around on her walker. She was very funny and always quick-witted. There are so many things we will miss so much about her. But the one word that always comes to mind when you think of Sharon “Mom” is Sweet. She was such a kindhearted person and had so much love in her heart for everyone. She will be missed terribly by all those that knew and loved her. I hope she knows how proud of her we are and have always been. Her strength in the final days was unimaginable.

Rest in Peace Mom, we love you, till we meet again.
