TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTION

“If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.”

— John Dewey

We strive to engage, enrich, and inspire the whole individual both academically and spiritually. Ensuring that our students will continue leading the way further into the 21st Century is our number one priority, and ensuring that technology is used throughout our curriculum is absolutely essential.

Ensuring that every student has access to world-class technology is paramount for students and educators. The iPad 1:1 program brings our students an unbelievable edge in the classroom and allows for our teachers to push the limits of the instruction outside of the physical walls and time limitations of years past. Bundling the iPad 1:1 program with Google Apps for Education and a state of the art campus-wide wireless network, allows for students to have access to the absolute best tools available for education in the 21st Century.

The SFD Difference: Leading the Way

As educators, we must teach to prepare our students for a future that we may not be able to imagine. Our concept of preparatory education has evolved and so must our methods. Our young people are living in a world where technological knowledge can empower individuals, cultures, and nations. It also plays major roles in all areas of our economy. In many ways, the continued strength of our country relies on our ability to maintain a strong technological position in the world economy.

Many schools that have offered technology courses have offered them in ways that kept the responsibility for technology education as part of the elective course structure. At St. Francis DeSales High School, we are integrating this responsibility within all departments in our school. Each department and each discipline will integrate technology education in the way that fits with their department's mission and content. Just as technology can be found in virtually every aspect of our world, it will be integrated within our curriculum in all areas. Students at St. Francis DeSales High School will gain the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to be truly positive and empowered 21st Century global citizens.
