Debbie (Waldren) Congos ‘75

Deborah Teresa Congos passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, surrounded by her children and siblings, after a brief illness. She was born on November 24, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Victor “Archie” Congos and her parents, Thomas and Ruth (Garrett) Waldren, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Andy (Marissa) Congos and Matt (Taylor) Congos and her beautiful grandson, Dutton. She is also survived by siblings, Pam Waldren, Nancy (Phil) Tierney, Sandy (John) Peecook, Tom (Beth) Waldren, Leigh Anne (John) Leonard, Lynn Congos, Laura (Wayne) Eckert, Jeff (Tammy) Hough and Debbie (Angelo) Cicconetti, and several wonderful nieces and nephews. Coming from a large family, Debbie also leaves behind many cherished cousins. Debbie was a life-long educator, working as a middle school and high school Spanish teacher. After 30+ years working in Licking County, she spent time in her retirement as a Director for several latch-key programs. When raising her sons, Debbie enthusiastically dove headfirst into anything the boys wanted to learn. This included learning karate as an adult alongside the boys. In later years, Debbie and Archie became devoted hockey parents as both boys played several years of club hockey which ultimately led to Debbie’s love of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Debbie will be missed by many. Her infectious smile and devotion to her family and faith will be remembered by all who knew her.
