Daniel Tague ‘66
Daniel Joseph Tague, 78, of Sterling Heights, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on March 4th, 2026.
Dan was born January 11th 1948 in Columbus Ohio to the late Clyde and Anne Tague. Dan lived a life rooted in faith, family, and fierce loyalty especially when it came to the teams he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Joyce Tague; his four devoted daughters; Erin (Paulo) Asomoza, Kelly (Shawn) Rink, Katie (Scott) Deslippe, Margo (Nick) Pillon and his ten cherished grandchildren, Evan, Brandon, Carter, Noah, Kaleb, Avery, Paulo Jr, Brady, Adora and Austin who were the absolute light of his life. He also leaves behind his sisters Martha (Paul) Calhoun and Margie (John Hucle) Tague, predeceased by his sisters Barbara Bolin, Theresa Young, Mary Seymour, Judy Sebring, Alice Clarke and extended family and dear friends who will miss his steady presence and generous heart.
A devoted man of faith, Dan carried his beliefs not only in words, but in the way he lived each day with integrity, kindness, and strength. His faith guided him through life’s joys and challenges and was the foundation of the beautiful life he and Joyce built together.
Dan was, without question, Ohio State University’s biggest fan. Saturdays in the fall were sacred in his house, and he cheered on the Buckeyes with unmatched passion and unwavering optimism. Win or lose, his loyalty never wavered. His passion for sports went far beyond football and led him to the sidelines, where he proudly coached his daughters in basketball and soccer. Whether cheering from the stands or guiding from the bench, he loved being part of their games and the memories that came with them.
Golf was another of Dan’s great joys. Whether chasing the perfect shot or simply enjoying time with his beloved golf friends, the course was one of his happiest places. The friendships formed there meant so much to him, full of laughter, camaraderie, and stories that will continue to be told.
Above all, Dan’s greatest pride was his family. He was a proud and loving father whose daughters knew they were deeply loved. That love only grew with each grandchild. From games and school events to holidays and ordinary afternoons together, nothing made him happier than being surrounded by the people he loved most.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of faith, loyalty, laughter, and deep love. His presence was steady, his heart generous, and his devotion unwavering. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
