Joan (Lyons) Rhodes ‘64

Joan F. Rhodes, 79, of Waxhaw, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Harry and Frances Lyons.

After retiring from CoreSource. Joan worked as an Events Administrative Assistant for the Town of Waxhaw. She took great joy in helping plan the town's parades and community events and had a special passion for supporting local seniors, especially through the annual Christmas luncheon.

Joan's greatest joy in life was her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren, Caroline and Edward Jr. She cherished every moment spent with them. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of Disney movies, Hallmark Channel stories, football games, Chinese food, and her favorite sweet treats, which brought her warmth and happiness throughout her life.

She is survived by her son, Edward T. Rhodes, and daughterinlaw, Sarah Rhodes; her grandchildren, Caroline and Edward T. Rhodes Jr.; her sisters and brothersinlaws, Mickey and Ev Swarts of Ohio, and Trudy and Mike Askew of South Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Frances Lyons, two sisters, Susie Sparks and Betty "Deed" Roth, and brother, Harry Lyons.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Amy Merrill, Billy Sellers, and the Waxhaw Community for their unwavering love and support.
